[WORLD TWO | INVASIVE QUESTIONS]
Want to know what exactly monitors will say when your character questions them? Feel free to ask IC questions on this post and see what information your character gleans!
[ ooc: The responses will come tomorrow! The mod in charge of this post is handling something IRL right now, but questions will be responded to on the 19th. ]

If an example must be made out of, a volunteer has shown himself. I implore you to take him, in fact.

[ now that's met with a smirk, and a haughty laugh escapes his lips. ]
They're welcome to — so long as someone writes it down.
[ he's been publicly flogged before, how bad can it get!! ]

My. You're a glutton for punishment, aren't you?

Magic is dangerous and antithetical to a peaceful life here. It is not needed, and no more information about magic will be given.
no subject
Heeeey, what's going on with all of this?
[upon being given some kind of answer, and with a wide-eyed innocence:]
So all of the warriors and watchers are just a precaution? What else are you doing to protect us?

[and later, approaching a different monitor who's gone extra squinty at the coven for magic usage lately]
Look, I have to ask -- is magic considered a danger to the citizens in some way? I've just been wondering about it since we were told on entry, since other cities we've visited have been more lax on such restrictions.
no subject
Magic is considered a danger. Not all cities serve the same peaceful purpose as Shehui, and magic being banned is a precaution we do not take lightly.

[notably, he asks a couple of different monitors in very different areas these things to compare responses! he also makes sure they're within his power range so he can get a bead on what emotions they feel when he asks.
he also has one of those passive-aggressive flyers very obviously in hand when he talks to at least one of them. as you do.]

[Responses won't vary very much. Some will be more curt about the issue, but this is the common, PC response to inquiries about Geir.]
Magic is a danger and it is banned. Shehui runs perfectly fine with a magic ban, and it is for the good of our citizens to ban practices that may endanger their lives and the widespread lives of others.

Under the assumption that magic is, to some extent, real . . . [ because alchemists don't believe in this nonsense, thank you very much ] Why do you detest it? Why do you forbid it? Following that, what is the punishment for those who practice magic within the city limits? Are they afforded due process, are they jailed, or do you simply kick them out?
[ he pauses. ]
Most importantly, who is in charge of making these decisions, and how are these decisions made?
[ roy could keep going, but. you know. they're probably not even going to answer these, so there's little to no point in badgering them. ]

Magic is dangerous and forbidden in Shehui. Magic being practiced within the city limits will be punished as the government board sees fit. Continued use of magic will result in being removed from Shehui. [Further prompting on this issue will result in repeated statements and eventually being ignored.] That is not up to a monitor to decide on their own. However, magic is certainly impossible in Shehui, though there are precautions put in place in any event that magic does surface.
no subject
As for magic, how do you track its use?
no subject
Magic is monitored, though magic limitations are enforced in Shehui. Magic has not been confirmed and recorded for quite some time. [This likely won't be repeated by all monitors, but one may slip and confirm this information.]
no subject
[ a more believable statement in a past life maybe but MOVING ON ]
How is it monitored? It's reassuring that you've gone so long without, but I can't relax unless I'm confident the machine's operating correctly.
[ also can he actually believe that it hasn't been recorded? surely someone in the coven's slipped by now. does that indicate that however it's being tracked, it isn't pervasive, all-encompassing across the city? ]
no subject
[And later while on break.]
I assume there's a great deal of the city we outsiders just haven't been permitted to see. ...if we're not trusted why are so many people suggesting foreigners become citizens?
no subject
You have seen all there is to see of the city. Other than buildings that you would need employment or other normal access to enter, you are not forbidden from anything in Shehui.
no subject
I understand if you want to broadcast your way of life. But, this seems a bit like you need recruits? Correct me if I'm wrong. I can't stay in your city, but if you need any kind of help I'll do my best to aid you.

[ Pure(?) curiosity from the mind of a businessman!!! If fluffing up his questions won't work then Percival can take the fall for everyone, probably.
In another instance: ]
Magic is banned yet weaponry is allowed. Hmm... Knowing that my neighbor can buy a gun doesn't make me feel safe, and I so abhor violence—especially violence caused by magic. But that's why I'm grateful for the laws Shehui has in place.
[ This is 50% bullshit but he's trying. ]
Tell me: when was the last time magic caused any problems for you?
no subject
Violence is highly stigmatized. Violent crime is incredibly low. Don't fear -- monitors will be on the case if ever an issue pops up.
Magic has not caused a problem in Shehui in recent history. Magic is impossible in Shehui, outside of some animals with biologic gifts. These incidents are mere nuisances, not anything to worry about.

There was a problem with the fireworks, right? Was everyone okay? Do you guys need help fixing anything?

[If she asks more than one guard, some are likely to give her candy since she's a kid and assumedly easily dismissed.]
