TECHNOEXPLORATION, open to all this weekend!
IT'S ME AGAIN; just wanted to update everyone on the exploratory trip to the center of the Hub that's upcoming this weekend! As a note to new players, this is perfectly open to you if you'd like to hop in!
Plot Summary: 9S (
deem) is leading an IC effort to create monitoring technology on the Hub, which will give IC bulletins on upcoming weather, magical vibes, and natural resources on the island. The mods will OOCly incorporate this into their weekly posts when characters are on the Hub. Characters will need to troop up to the ??? on the Hub mountain for installation.
Previous posts on this topic were here (IC) and here (OOC).
Here's the timeline:
Obviously we will be handwaving construction a bit since everyone is occupied with the new character intro log, but that's what this post is for! Please just comment to the HELPFUL SUBHEADERS if you want to plot with us about how your character pitched in to help or learn to help build robots, or if they'll be seeing what's on the mountain this weekend. If you want to help but don't know what your character could do, comment anyway and we'll think of something.

Here's the timeline:
• Starting on Day 120 (Nov 4), any characters who were interested started working together under 9S's direction to make a bunch of technological components. In the end these will be combined to make a monitoring station and a cute lil monitoring robot.
• On Day 122, newbies arrived, everyone got flooded into the mansion, and there was a temporary time and parts shortage while everyone got situated!
• On Day 123, the parts shortage was resolved, and everyone in the mansion could begin a nerd slumber party to plan and build in addition to the ongoing general slumber party. 9S was on site to help direct things! Any character who wanted to get involved and hadn't previously had an opportunity was free to pitch in from this point on.
•On Day 128 (Sunday), a log will go up for everyone to see what the ??? on the Hub is and install things!THIS IS UP GO TAG IT

-good at programming the AIs for these
-may teach others but is an awkward loser in his efforts
-may or may not put red-tinted triangle shades on all the robots he makes

Seeing what the results of cooperative programming would be is fun too. Like what would Dirk consider important to include aside from The Basics?
no subject
Also he'd program it to protect the lives of coven members.
no subject
Obviously if Dirk thinks it's important it must be.

9S could definitely show him information about technology and useful resources using his monitors. It's a lot of information, but Alphonse and Riku got him accustomed to teaching people for whom his kind of tech is just a little insane.
Plus I think it'd be pretty cool to see what Mikleo would do with that information.

Mikleo should totally do that, it could be pretty darn cool.

So nuts and bolts sorts of things would suit him best so they could've focused on construction, which goes in-line with their original discussion of android maintenance. And has Al met Dirk before? Sort of an aside but gosh I'm curious.

Team nerd will truly be a mighty force.

i don't know what practical skills from mass assembling timer bombs from scratch would transfer over and apply here but you know if nothing else you know she can sit down at a desk and just. work with her hands for hours on end with fiddly small things. on the floor is fine too.
teach her all the things. or just tell her what to do while you do your own thing. better yet shove ikea style assembly instructions in her face and leave her there with them, ey

And since it's a very technical sort of project, being able to hunker down and piece things together would be very helpful.

She's probably not going to be too helpful for much more than the nuts and bolts herself at this point, not trusting herself to tinker too much outside of her breadth of knowledge especially given that there are much more capable sorts for that already within the coven, but hey who knows in the future what with the other folks currently around. She's intuitive and flexible enough, it's just a matter of the information she has access to and practical experience/understanding. But at the very least, she'll free up some of the busywork for the programmer and engineer sorts to have more time to do their thing.

Also occurs to me late that I should throw down a comment here too. Been responding to everybody but please don't let that discourage other interactions or cooperation on this since it's a team effort.
9S comes from a background of being technology used for a similar purpose and with the technical knowledge to match. His kind build pods which is what he's proposed as the basic template for mobile data-gathering. This said! He's got some parts handy and the ability to display construction data/information on holographic monitors for others. And he's pretty excited to collaborate so changes, innovations, or programming people pitch in are all very good so far as he's concerned.
Mostly I want to lend him as a support/helping presence on this to facilitate participation. So if he can be used to that end either in threads or a handwave capacity hit me right on up.
late, spilled the starbucks, etc.
like. he 's. not a mechanic. he spends like 90% of his screentime just staring at his gundam while actual mechanics work on it, but he's a) shown once sitting in the cockpit working on a tablet/interface, b) spoken to as if he's doing the adjusting himself, c) in such a tech heavy world with so much dependent on that stuff, i feel like it's reasonably to assume some basic competence should parts fall off and all that?
SO UH weakly justifying the following list
- experience programming and helping with some extremely fucking weird AI (based on and actually using his subordinate's remnant brain haha gundam)
- MAYBE some basic actual hands on maintenance/building/knowing where shit could go??? is it fair to say if you spend 24/7 watching it you pick something up plus basic back in the day classes????
- by all means he'll fetch and carry plz.
x2
seems to know a lot about gundam mechanics idk not a mechanic but a nerd
/neglected ic duties but icly he into it

Please help make the pod's programming weird, and also! 9S hates fetch-quests so please be welcomed to them. While they're on the hub I think this essentially boils down to scraping together whatever they can and then moving parts between people working assembly, which these guys are welcome to do if they're so inclined. 9S can display relevant data on holographic monitors and uh. Also yammer a lot. He's a boss at talking.
There's a log up now that gives us some room for pod work here!
/slides in days late but hey
Not the most helpful, mind you. But all over this.
He at least knows he's not technologically savvy at this level enough to be a good little gopher and grunt and do what he's instructed to do. He can carry stuff or do anything he's shown how.

He'll also be very interested in her ability too (unrelatedly)

And Julieta and Edward sounds like such a cool team-up.
no subject
And yes excellent. Handwaved or not, Ed'll make good use of any info. That's perfect. :D

EVEN MORE LATER-est
Jk... sort of. - she can fetch and carry things! She'll probably enjoy watching people too though... she's also a fast learner, so she might be able to mimic and put together some simple parts. Teach her things :')
no subject
Although I'd totally love to see her imitate Dirk too.
