You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.
B ▢ Other new arrivals aren't so lucky as to arrive in the warm embrace of an apartment's bed. It's currently raining in Shehui, and because of the current post-winter temperature, the rain is certainly cold. You're now in the middle of a busy street, out in the open -- no umbrella to your name. You have the opportunity to grab some shelter underneath an awning or run into a building. Or will someone take pity on you? Or are you not bothered by a sudden, frigid downpour? C ▢ Shehui is looking to celebrate an upcoming holiday -- Yeunai. Something of a bonding holiday that celebrates a variety of relationships, Shehui residents are really into this consumer, capitalist bonanza. On certain Shehui streets are mats that read the ID data of those that stand on them. Whether or not you'd like to take part in this little shindig, a nearby machine will random spit out some data about you and another person on the same long mat. (Need some guidance? Here's a love calculator!) That's a good ice-breaker, right? D ▢ Despite Shehui's distrust of magic, faux magic isn't a big deal. In fact, there's currently a showcase of street performers making money with their craft. Located around Shehui's famed tower, there's a lot of room for some real magic here. Want to take yours for a spin? It's easy enough to simply say you can't reveal your secrets when you're asked about a certain talent. E ▢ With how prominent cell phones are in Shehui, a lot of new and old arrivals have them by now -- you, newbie, might have already picked one up! Despite not having anyone on your contact list yet, you do seem to be getting quite a few messages...though they aren't going to your cell phone. Instead, they're being telepathically broadcast into your head, or even before your eyes! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it's very likely that you're transmitting your own accidental telepathic broadcast...but what are you saying, exactly? F ▢ Another fun activity -- Chips! is always open! Today they're hosting their regular games, but there's also a SongWars competition, including a huge stage and everything. While you may not know the words to these strange, alien pop songs, the crowd may turn in your favour if you put on a good show regardless. What do you win for besting your champion? A nice plastic trophy and a big Chocorrone. G ▢ For some people, the whole "kidnapped to another world with new magic and cell phones and shit" is actually...kind of a downer. For those of you who want to enjoy the evening and maybe meditate for a while, there are plenty of parks with benches that allow you to sit and think. You may not want company, but it may find you regardless... H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character react to this strange world? |
iii; IM BIG SCREAMING
what she doesn't expect is to hear a voice that she recognizes, but hasn't heard in a long time. she has to wonder if she's dreaming as she tries (and fails) to glance over the heads of the gathering crowd, but eventually resolves herself to squeeze through to the front. it's not like her height will stop anyone from seeing... and as she sees who the voice belongs to, all of her hopes come true.
like any proper best friend would, ruby is cheering her on as she finishes her impromptu song, front and center. both of them have grown so much since they decided to become school idols, and seeing hanamaru having fun means that ruby can't be happier. there's tears in her eyes, but they aren't ones of sadness - they're of relief and pride. ]
That was amazing, Maru-chan...
GOOD
when she finally catches sight of Ruby in the audience, up there in front, her heart soars, and she's suddenly gained a burst of new energy to finish off the song. after it's over, she jumps off the stage, moving to sweep her dear friend up into a hug]
R-Ruby-chan! You're here, zura! [she might cry too, at this point]

[ what goes unsaid is that she's also terrified. it's definitely selfish for her to be happy about hanamaru's arrival - it means that she's also been taken away from the safety and normalcy of their world, and thrust into something new. from now on, things are going to be rough for her... but if they're together, maybe it won't be so bad.
she tries not to think about it too much. for now, she's busy hugging her friend back and letting her tears fall freely. she's never been one to hold them back. ]
I missed you so much...

but are they really safe in this world?]
It's okay. I'm here now! We can get through this together.
