You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.
B ▢ Other new arrivals aren't so lucky as to arrive in the warm embrace of an apartment's bed. It's currently raining in Shehui, and because of the current post-winter temperature, the rain is certainly cold. You're now in the middle of a busy street, out in the open -- no umbrella to your name. You have the opportunity to grab some shelter underneath an awning or run into a building. Or will someone take pity on you? Or are you not bothered by a sudden, frigid downpour? C ▢ Shehui is looking to celebrate an upcoming holiday -- Yeunai. Something of a bonding holiday that celebrates a variety of relationships, Shehui residents are really into this consumer, capitalist bonanza. On certain Shehui streets are mats that read the ID data of those that stand on them. Whether or not you'd like to take part in this little shindig, a nearby machine will random spit out some data about you and another person on the same long mat. (Need some guidance? Here's a love calculator!) That's a good ice-breaker, right? D ▢ Despite Shehui's distrust of magic, faux magic isn't a big deal. In fact, there's currently a showcase of street performers making money with their craft. Located around Shehui's famed tower, there's a lot of room for some real magic here. Want to take yours for a spin? It's easy enough to simply say you can't reveal your secrets when you're asked about a certain talent. E ▢ With how prominent cell phones are in Shehui, a lot of new and old arrivals have them by now -- you, newbie, might have already picked one up! Despite not having anyone on your contact list yet, you do seem to be getting quite a few messages...though they aren't going to your cell phone. Instead, they're being telepathically broadcast into your head, or even before your eyes! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it's very likely that you're transmitting your own accidental telepathic broadcast...but what are you saying, exactly? F ▢ Another fun activity -- Chips! is always open! Today they're hosting their regular games, but there's also a SongWars competition, including a huge stage and everything. While you may not know the words to these strange, alien pop songs, the crowd may turn in your favour if you put on a good show regardless. What do you win for besting your champion? A nice plastic trophy and a big Chocorrone. G ▢ For some people, the whole "kidnapped to another world with new magic and cell phones and shit" is actually...kind of a downer. For those of you who want to enjoy the evening and maybe meditate for a while, there are plenty of parks with benches that allow you to sit and think. You may not want company, but it may find you regardless... H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character react to this strange world? |

Hanamaru Kunikida | Love Live Sunshine
[this was no way to wake up from a nap. Hanamaru looks around, gripping tightly to her cardigan. she's in her school uniform, and it's already soaked from the rain. she has no idea where she is. she's just shivering in the cold.
her feet start to move on their own. she has to find shelter, right? so she gets moving, looking for something, anything to tell her where she is. a map, a street sign, maybe a person? she's not paying attention to where she's going, either, so she bumps right into you! ow!]
Ahh! Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, zura!
II) the future is now
[Hanamaru doesn't really use a phone... or a computer... she lives (lived?) in an old temple and barely even watches television. so the idea of sending out texts with a phone is ~THE FUTURE~. sending subliminal messages, though? she can do that. well, she can try. but she doesn't know that she can.
by now, she has discovered the weird little piece of jewelry that is embedded into her skin, and she's rubbing at it, wondering what it's for. she's also broadcasting without knowing it]
how weird it doesnt hurt
howd it get in there
shouldnt be there right
im hungry zura
III) we got dream
[she doesn't know what Chips! is, but she saw there was a singing competition. to win something chocolatey? she can do that! she's a school idol, after all. so, even though she's only been here a little while, she is already up on the stage, making up her own lyrics to the songs while dancing. it looks like she's drawing quite a crowd, too. when she first started out, Hanamaru had not been very confident in her abilities.
but over time, she's grown. she's a bit stronger. also, she wants that Chocorrone]
IV) wildcard
[got a different scenario? put it here, or feel free to hit up
1
— Eh? Zura?
[ it can't be... is it? no, it is. she's standing right in front of her. same cardigan. same zura. same big, amber eyes. ]
H-Hanamaru-chan... ! Hanamaru-chan, Hanamaru-chan, is it really you?
[ chika grips her by the shoulders, resisting the urge to shake her back and forth. this is real. another one of her friends is really here. ]
no subject
Ch-chika-chan! Yeah, It's me! [she leans forward, wrapping her wet arms around her leader. sorry, she's soaked!]
no subject
[ she is very soaked, chika's white shirt immediately dampening, but then she just laughs. it doesn't matter. how could such a trivial thing bother her when hanamaru is here? ]
I was so worried about you! We were so worried about you... ! When did you get here? Are you all right?
[ chika hugs hanamaru, too, throwing her arms around her middle and hugging her close to her chest. ]
no subject
U-um... [she finally pulls back, trying to think] I... I think I just got here. Wherever here is, zura. I remember... We were all singing together on stage one last time, b-but then I was suddenly standing outside!
no subject
Huh? What do you mean, one last time... ?
[ ... ]
Let's go find somewhere warm to sit and talk. There's a cute little cafe nearby! Follow me.
[ chika doesn't give her much of a choice, since she's grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her along at a brisk pace. ]
ii
[ The letters are right in front of her eyes, there's no mistaking it. ]
hanamaru-chan, it's riko. where are you right now?
[ She'll just assume it's her friend...besides zura, being hungry was a huge hint. ]
no subject
um
im in front of a deli zura
everything smells delicious
how are we
is that really rikochan
no subject
Deli...is there a huge apartment building nearby?
[ There's a deli next to the building the coven is staying at so maybe... ]
Yes, it's really me.
[ Should she prove it somehow...Riko just doesn't know. ]
no subject
apartment building
oh yes there it is!!
where should i go zura
I
[ Despite having and carrying an umbrella, it's currently closed and being patted dry as if somehow the moisture of the rain that fell on it as it started raining would destroy it. Then again, it was expensive, bought in Tokyo, with plenty of fashionable bows and ribbons on it, more useful as an accessory to Yoshiko's look than anything functional.
But that's besides the point, seeing how someone's just rudely bumped into her, almost knocking her over from the surprise of it. ]
Hey! Why don't you-- [ She's quick to anger, not thinking things through fully, only when she turns to look she she's someone who is instantly recognizable. It's: ]
Z-Z-Z-Z-Zuramaru?! [ Give her a second as she takes it all in, seeing her best friend here in front of her in a strange land, soaked and cold from the rain. ]
no subject
Yoshiko... chan?
[and then she's practically tackling her while she's still wet. that doesn't matter to her right now. what matters is that she's found her friend after wandering alone in this weird world for almost an hour]
no subject
I-It's good to see you too...
[ She reaches down to pat her friend's wet, trying her best to calm her, even as she quickly adds: ] And it's Yohane.
no subject
Do you know where we are? ...You didn't do something weird, did you, zura?
no subject
[ Complaining while not really complaining, Yoshiko tries to put on an annoyed face, but really she's just so glad to see Hanamaru. If there's anyone she feels she can trust in it's this girl most of all. Not that she can just come out and say all that, no no, that would be far too normal for Yoshiko. Instead she follows along, letting Hanamaru take her underneath that awning, shaking her wet hair a little. ]
Of course I do! [ Not really. ] It's another world right? Like from a light novel or anime. And what do you mean by that Zuramaru?!
no subject
Another world... Is that really possible? How did we even get here?
no subject
How should I know?! [ Oh, because she's a chuuni, right. ] Look, I don't know any more than you do, Zuramaru. But I uh..
[ She can't help but turn away, as she feels a bit of embarrassing truth coming out of her. ]
I'm glad you're here...
no subject
I'm glad you're here, too. [a beat, and she reaches for Yoshiko's hand to squeeze it encouragingly] As long as we're not alone, we can figure this out, zura!
no subject
Eh--
[ The squeeze makes her jump just a little, but soon enough she's embarrassedly squeezing back, the warmth of the other girl's hand so much more preferable to the dampness sticking to her clothes. ]
That's right! There's gotta be an explanation somewhere here! [ But that reminds her-- ] ZURAMARU! Have you discovered any magic powers?!
iii; IM BIG SCREAMING
what she doesn't expect is to hear a voice that she recognizes, but hasn't heard in a long time. she has to wonder if she's dreaming as she tries (and fails) to glance over the heads of the gathering crowd, but eventually resolves herself to squeeze through to the front. it's not like her height will stop anyone from seeing... and as she sees who the voice belongs to, all of her hopes come true.
like any proper best friend would, ruby is cheering her on as she finishes her impromptu song, front and center. both of them have grown so much since they decided to become school idols, and seeing hanamaru having fun means that ruby can't be happier. there's tears in her eyes, but they aren't ones of sadness - they're of relief and pride. ]
That was amazing, Maru-chan...
GOOD
when she finally catches sight of Ruby in the audience, up there in front, her heart soars, and she's suddenly gained a burst of new energy to finish off the song. after it's over, she jumps off the stage, moving to sweep her dear friend up into a hug]
R-Ruby-chan! You're here, zura! [she might cry too, at this point]
no subject
[ what goes unsaid is that she's also terrified. it's definitely selfish for her to be happy about hanamaru's arrival - it means that she's also been taken away from the safety and normalcy of their world, and thrust into something new. from now on, things are going to be rough for her... but if they're together, maybe it won't be so bad.
she tries not to think about it too much. for now, she's busy hugging her friend back and letting her tears fall freely. she's never been one to hold them back. ]
I missed you so much...
no subject
but are they really safe in this world?]
It's okay. I'm here now! We can get through this together.
