TDMs can be used for anyone interested in the game and/or testing out a new muse.

Test Drive samples are encouraged to be used for your application sample, though they are NOT a requirement.

Feel free to use one prompt, multiple prompts or make up your own!

These threads can be considered game canon upon game opening if you so choose.

Telepathy and magic can be used at any point in time on the TDM, from Prompt A to your wildcard prompt. A specific prompt exists, however, that makes sure all characters have an equal chance to use this mechanic within the TDM. You're encouraged to have characters use telepathy and their magic accidentally or even purposefully on any TDM prompt.

If you aren't set on your character's power yet or want to try out a few, you're still able to use the test drive. Maybe your character is a late bloomer and hasn't fully unlocked their intuitive drive yet. In the case of multiple powers, only prompts that contain the power you choose for your application will count as potential game canon threads.

While only one character can be apped or reserved during a cycle, feel free to post with more than one character if you like! This is for those who are uncertain of their first choice or who would like to try out different characters within the setting.

IMPORTANT: This world is low-frequency. No canon powers or abilities are allowed! Also check out the setting information for more info about what the hub island looks like and what can be found there.

ou blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelery inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes. A ▢ THus hub island is getting pretty chilly, which means the forest that contains the large, dinner-plate sized spiders is very still and quiet. No spiders are out and about to jump your characters -- but they are underground, lying in wait. Sometimes the best way for characters to get accustomed to their magic is to trigger their fight or flight response. One wrong step in the forest and they'll find their foot through a spider's brushy trapdoor or putting a little too much pressure on it for their liking. Are you ready to see what your character is made of? B ▢ The recent surge of rain has caused a few marshy areas, be it in the forest or a hilly landscape. Some swampy ground is more aggravating than treacherous, but the opposite is also true. Your character is strolling along, trying to find their way and all of a sudden SCHLUMP! Their leg is sunk into the ground up to their nether regions. Struggle, and the rest of them might fall in too...! C ▢ While your character is trying to figure out where the fuck they are, they may come across something scuttling about through the forest. Don't panic -- it's simply a scanner pod doing its due diligence and scouting for resources...oh! And it just happened upon something interesting: your character! This scanner robot is curious to investigate and record your data. Is your character going to trust them to do their job, or will they be suspicious of this looming machine?

Here's the part where they finally locate something of use: the base camp. The murky, weathered location is a little distressed, and resource gathering is making coven members sparse. However, that doesn't mean helpful answers aren't only a step away. D ▢ One thing of note is that as they get closer to the base camp, characters will feel more and more of that strong, telepathic surge. Qri's caravan is sitting in the middle of the open area, which may explain the stronger magical signals. Traveling closer to this object, in particular, will cause that unfamiliar pang of intuition to feel that much stronger -- which also explains why their own thoughts are being broadcast recklessly to everyone else on the island. E ▢ Speaking of Qri's caravan, the floating "vehicle" currently has its trap door, hammerspace portal open. It's quite large and inviting, honestly. Want to get closer to Qri? Or maybe just take shelter from the few sprinkles that are still falling from the sky? Crawl on in! Just be warned: the door will close right behind your character, and that thing gets claustrophobic after a while. F ▢ Finally, since Brie is aware that a new world is approaching, she's gotten a little more weapon-obsessed. There are an assortment of weapons just laying all over the place, from swords to spears, from slingshots to...god, what even is that thing your character has never seen before. Whether they're curious about something and like to touch things that don't belong to them or Brie is trying to outfit them with a weapon that works for them, your character is now weaponized. What do??? G ▢ Wildcard prompt. Go nuts and utilize your own creativity within the setting. This can mean striking out on your own or utilizing a certain location in a different way. The world is your oyster!

[ With this whole new place laid out just in front of her eyes, Mei can't help being excited, even though she is a little worried about arriving in an unknown land without any prior warning. The temperature isn't bothering her at all, actually, as it's just right.

And who would've thought that the cause of her excitement reaching the zenith will be...a marsh. ]

It's been a while! [ Why is she greeting it like an old friend? ] You've almost got me there! Got it?

[ That's a terrible joke, but Mei's giggling nonetheless. She'll definitely stay here to examine it a bit further. If someone comes closer, she'll warn them about the danger promptly. ]

Watch out! It's really boggy here. You might want to pick another route.

( C: Yikes! )

[ When one of the pods approaches Mei, she jumps on the spot and turns her attention to it. ]

Oh! Hello there.

[ Her first meeting with a scanner pod is off to a good start. She's giving it a soft smile, but there's sadness in her eyes. ]

What are you doing here? Scouting around the area? [ This might not be the case given how close to her head it hovers. ] Or maybe trying to find out something about me?

( E: A-Mei-zing! )

[ A hammerspace portal? Count Mei in, she's never seen anything like it before, and she's pretty sure that it doesn't belong to the world of science. She's really curious about it, still. And it has nothing to do with taking shelter from the sprinkles. ]

What should I do about it, I wonder. [ It looks dangerous enough to put her hand inside but is there any other way to check how does it work? ] If it works like a black hole, I'd be done for.

( F: Hey, be reasonable! )

I...! I already have my own weapon, thank you!

[ Mei finds it rather difficult to get through to Brie who insists on handing her a weapon anyway. That's the reason why she ends up holding a one-handed sword and a shield. ]

Umm...I don't think I can even use it. Would you like to take it?

Sorry, but I have my own weapon, too. It looks like she's forcing them on everyone, whether they like it or not.

[ a rueful smile. curiously enough, jude isn't carrying a weapon, nor does it look like he has one on him at all. ]

[ Mei can't see anything on Jude even after wiping her glasses. ]

Is she always so pushy? It's really mean...I can do just fine with this.

[ She holds up something that looks like a hair dryer? This is legit. ]

[ he shrugs like that's normal. ]

And I hate to say it, but she's the definition of pushy. She means well, but...

[ jude raises an eyebrow at mei's weapon. it looks like some type of fancy spyrix. ]

Anyway, what is that?

[meirry]

Your fists? [ It's hard not to giggle. ] Oh, don't be mad, it just sounded really cool.

[ As for the pushy people, Mei has an idea how to deal with them. She's literally rolling her sleeves up, probably getting ready for a confrontation with Brie. ]

Even if she means well, she needs to calm down a little—

[ Okay, this can wait, with Jude's question she can be her nerdy self now. ]

Oh, this little thing? It's my creation. I called it Endothermic Blaster, it can freeze things. Would you like to see?

[ jude smiles, her amusement amusing him in turn. ]

I'm not mad. I'm glad you think so. I've got the calluses to prove it and everything.

[ but upon her explanation, jude raises an eyebrow and gives the blaster a good, hard stare. he's fascinated, that's for sure.

plus, she *made* that?

jude can think of a certain someone she might get along with... ]

What are you waiting for? Go for it!

You don't have to, I believe you.

[ Still chuckling, she also can't believe that this guy is ready to prove himself with calluses. ]

Okay, let's see... [ She has her gun pointed at Jude...but turns it the other way soon enough, looking for a good target. She'd rather not interfere with the ecosystem here, so in the end, she freezes one of the hut walls. ] Oh, maybe it wasn't the best idea after all. Nobody lives here, I hope...

N-no, I definitely wasn't spying on you! [ the young, alarmed voice rings out a moment before Ritsuka steps out from behind the tree she had been using as cover. bits of bark and moss cling to her uniform and her hands are raised in surrender. at least, until she notices that Mei was speaking to this floating contraption and not to her.

she doesn't lower her hands but does laugh out. ] Oh, that was — I thought... you were talking to me? Haha! How silly! [ either way, she's still busted, but this time she played herself.

yeah she's doomed. why did she have to end up here alone? ]

This little guy isn't that easy to spot here, I can't blame you.

[ Reassuring the girl that everything's fine is Mei's priority currently, especially after noticing her hands raised up. ]

You know, you can... [ Stand at ease is what she wants to say, but instead she's just pointing to Ritsuka's arms hoping that she'll understand. ] Were you hiding? Is something wrong?

[ Ritsuka assumes the gesture will come with some sort of declaration, or perhaps an attack, but she does her best to hide a flinch in the middle of glancing over her shoulder to see if anyone was there.

it really sucks to lack any means of assessing threats on her own. makes her nervous. ] Um, I was. Very poorly, obviously.

[ Ritsuka sighed. ] As for what's wrong — everything, and nothing? I mean. I don't know how I ended up here and not at Cha— where I'm supposed to be.

I'm sure my bodyguards aren't too far behind though! [ there's some measure of confidence that. but it's false. she has no idea where Mash or anyone else is. or if they're ever coming. ]

[ Despite feeling excited most of the time, Mei understands the sentiment. It's a whole new world to discover, but on the other hand, there are still things to do back home. Many, many things. ]

I understand what you mean. Well, maybe not the bodyguards part, but the rest of it. Maybe I can be your bodyguard for the time being? I don't look like it but I'm pretty tough!

[ Did Mei just volunteer to become a Servant?? ]

[ if only it was that easy to form a Contract with an ordinary person. or an extraordinary one. alas, Ritsuka doesn't think that way and, even if she could, she has the sinking feeling inside of her that such things are not possible right now. the fact she can't tell more than that is what disturbs her a great deal and has made her overly cautious.

the offer surprises her. most of her enemies so far have been particularly forward with how they wished to kill her or destroy what she worked toward. to have someone indicate the opposite is... odd. ]

I wouldn't judge you on looks alone. [ she slowly lowers her arms to her sides. ] You'd do that, for me?

Boggy? -The masked woman tilted her head curiously, pondering over the thought...-

Boggy. Marshy. Swampy. Internal recollections... inconclusive. -What was with that way of speaking? And yet as soon as that was done, her voice shot up in pitch, almost childlike in its tone.- Oh well, I'm sure it'll be fine!

-And she takes a step, a chain connecting the approaching ankle to a steel ball behind her, which would no doubt only make things worse. And just like that, *schlorp*, in she went, almost right up to her waist. There's a pause, and then, panic.-

Buuuu! Why's it trying to eat me?! Am I that sweet?!

[ Mei has so many questions but there's too little time to ask them all. Actually, there's not enough time to ask even a single one as she tries to give Jack-O' another warning not to come too close...but she's too late.

With that, Mei's exploration time is over—she rushes to help the girl. ]

Take my hand, I'll try to pull you out! And don't panic, okay?

[ Mei herself wraps her other arm around a tree trunk making sure that she won't end up in the marshes herself. If she did, what a poor rescue attempt that would be...! ]

Affirmative! -In that mature tone again, she grasps Mei's offered help with both hands.- I predict the weight of myself and my armaments will not encumber you, so please do not hesitate to give it your all!

-And back to the youthful tone.- Pull pull pull!!!

[ With that said, Mei sure tries her darndest to pull her out, hopeful that this rescue mission will be a success. ]

Just a little bit more...!

[ Jack-O' and her cheerful voice actually helps a lot as she manages to muster up all her strength as she tugs. ]

-Just... a bit... there! With a plopping sound, Jack-O and her ill-advised ball and chain are freed from the swamp's grip, springing forth and winding up in a pile of much, rolling to a nearby tree, and letting out a dizzied groan.-

What a fun ride, bupupu...

[ the caravan is given a raise of the brow. he looks towards her, expression as unfriendly as it tends to be, and then peers into the doorway for a moment. ]

Qri needs us. It would be counterproductive to lose the lot of us in a conspicuously placed black hole. [ he cards through his hair. ] If you intend on entering, I'll go first.

You're making a very good point. It would be very rude to summon us here just to make us walk into a black hole... [ Is rude really a good word for this kind of thing and why not. ] But what else could it be?

[ His argument cleared most of Mei's doubts and there's nothing stopping her from checking this out. ]

I've been always thinking that it's ladies first, but I guess it doesn't apply to weird portals... [ She's giggling and trying to be funny here. ] I'd like to see what's inside, yes.

I'm sorry, my lady. As you can see, I have a sword of my own.

[ It's big! And blue! And can fire beams of light at a 13 kilometer radius! ]

Though I am not certain what our mission in the next world will entail...

[ The last time someone called her that was...never, actually. When the shock wears off, she gives Gawain a sheepish smile. ]

It's huge indeed, my lord. But aren't two swords better than one especially when we don't know what the future holds?
And...I am supposed to call you my lord in return, right?

[ This shouldn't be so complicated and yet it is?! ]

Oh, no, no. That isn't... [ Hm. He doesn't get embarrassed as often as he should, but flatter him too much and his princely countenance crumbles. Mei, stop. This isn't too hard. STICK TO THE SCRIPT. ]
