SH*T GETTING REAL

▢ On Saturday, a semi-eviction process is going to start going into effect -- but not the usual one that other bums may have to deal with when they don't pay up.

▢ Instead, coven members will be forcibly taken in for questioning, brought down to the location Vern and Gier found when following the monitors. They can go kicking and screaming, comply with the scenario, run away -- the exactly options will be more discussed on the log post itself! Just know you aren't stuck with just being led away like a damsel in distress.

▢ No matter your character's reaction, we need to know whether or not they'd be involved at all -- and that's your decision! If you want to volunteer for your character to be taken in for questioning -- and perhaps something worse -- you have to sign up! All you have to do is respond to this post. There are a few things you need to know that may change your mind on signing up:

- Characters won't just be down there for a day or 48 hours.
- Those who volunteer for "capture" will be involved with a metaplot involving finding Qri and potentially escaping Shehui -- whether by eviction or by being magicked away. This does not mean characters who aren't taken are totally locked out of the plot by any means, just that taken characters will have a direct access to part of the ordeal.
- Being taken doesn't mean you're committing to being a kidnapping victim! Again, you can say that your character managed to use magic to escape the monitors taking them away (they will have equipment that makes this hard, of course), or something else. Being on the list just means that your character was selected to be taken, not that they can't find a way out of the situation! However, if your character is actually taken to the underground area, getting out won't be easy once they are there.
- In that same vein, characters who aren't taken will have the opportunity to search for them, as well as get involved in potentially trying to bust the other characters out of lockup. Is it doable? Stay tuned!
- There are an unlimited number of characters that can sign up for being taken, but only a portion will be selected if the number exceeds 15-20. The monitors/Shehui government won't take in the entire coven; they know there is strength in numbers, and further probing and testing is better done in smaller numbers. Thus, if 30 characters respond, 1/3 of the game isn't going to be abducted. In fairness, there will be a random list of those who are taken for questioning on the log. If you do volunteer a character, just be prepared to have them on the list regardless of if they are or not.
- Also, signups aren't limited to just those who are easily suspected. All characters have some merit when it comes to in-depth questioning (and more), so don't be scared to toss them into the fray!

▢ Feel free to ask questions in your volunteer comment, but be aware more info about the logistics, setting and length will be available on the log for this on Saturday, as well as the regular weekly post!

[ Even though the coven members aren't held in the highest regard right now, it doesn't mean they're neglected when it comes to the wish festival. As a last hurrah for the festival, a large metal tree has been placed in the middle of the first floor of the apartment complex. Next to it is a box of small talismans, complete with a few complimentary pens -- though the 'complementary' part means that they usually end up missing, so hopefully you've got a writing utensil of your own.

The idea of the tree, which families in Shehui have their own miniature version in their homes, is to post up your sometimes-anonymous wish and to see if it can and will be granted. Sometimes these wishes are more metaphysical or spiritual; wishes for better health or a clearer mind. Sometimes they're material; "I want a new car," "I wish I had a few more credits."

Wishers are also encouraged to grant what wishes they can. Again, some aren't so easy -- but it's worth a shot, right? What's the worst that could happen?

OOC: Leave wishes that your character would request ICly. These can either be anonymous or signed! They can leave as many wishes as they want, just put them all in the same comment with an indication as to whether they're anonymous or signed. They don't even have to make sense -- the mod account will go around and fulfil some wishes as if they were from other Shehui residents, who may not have the best grasp or capability of understanding your wish. It's all in good fun! Alternatively, you can also leave comments with what your character would ICly do in order to fulfil that wish. Any gifts given anonymously (or asked for) can be left on the tree itself, next to the wish in question.

Also, for the detail-oriented, these wish papers are also technologically advanced -- not your typical paper! They translate the words written down on them, unlike other handwritten material in Shehui. This may be useful for something else on the horizon... ]

OOC NOTES

▢ Click the link above to be taken to the Google Doc for the the new setting! You can begin utilizing the setting once the coven arrives in the new world. This post will be stickied for questions throughout the journey and arrival.

▢ Reply to this entry with any questions you have about the setting information. Even if it's stupidly detail oriented or "who cares about this except me," feel free to ask! New information will be added as questions or ask, and it will be highlighted in yellow so you can keep track of what's been added after your initial read-through.

▢ While there is a certain "story line" to each setting, characters of course have the ability to alter how the coven is perceived based on their actions. If you destroy a building or do something ridiculous? Speak up on the player plot post! This is a post for major actions taken by characters, and this will be prevalent in Shehui, a low-frequency world that is apparently against magic. Based on these threads, new prompts may be added to weekend posts that will reflect how these actions change the setting.

IMPORTANT Players can of course decide to break the rules of Shehui and buck the system -- that's to be expected, and pushing the limits of the setting is even encouraged! However, consider major character actions and how they potentially affect the gameplay of others. If a character decides to try and burn down the city on the second day...obviously this wouldn't fly for very long and the plot would be over within a day. There's intrigue here and the potential for exploration, investigation and espionage, as well as figuring out magic harvesting along the way (because that must somehow be possible or why else would they be there?) Sit back and enjoy it!

▢ Finally, the calendar will be updated sometime today or tomorrow with some more dates related to the new world. Look out for it!
