IMPORTANT: This TDM takes place on the current world the coven is part of. Please read the linked Google Doc about the world AND be aware that the world is high-frequency, meaning canon magic and powers can be used.

TDMs can be used for anyone interested in the game and/or testing out a new muse.

Test Drive samples are encouraged to be used for your application sample, though they are NOT a requirement.

Feel free to use one prompt, multiple prompts or make up your own!

These threads can be considered game canon upon game opening if you so choose.

Telepathy and magic can be used at any point in time on the TDM, from Prompt A to your wildcard prompt. A specific prompt exists, however, that makes sure all characters have an equal chance to use this mechanic within the TDM. You're encouraged to have characters use telepathy and their magic accidentally or even purposefully on any TDM prompt.

If you aren't set on your character's power yet or want to try out a few, you're still able to use the test drive. Maybe your character is a late bloomer and hasn't fully unlocked their intuitive drive yet. In the case of multiple powers, only prompts that contain the power you choose for your application will count as potential game canon threads.

While only one character can be apped or reserved during a cycle, feel free to post with more than one character if you like! This is for those who are uncertain of their first choice or who would like to try out different characters within the setting.

Prompts A and B take place on the island above Aimintas, so in-game characters can only utilize these prompts if they know how to get here or you can handwave how they would get there. It's not that deep.

WORLD ONE: AIMINTAS

You blink and that's all it takes. At first the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over... One point of implant is a sandy beach, next to an ocean shore. This may not be that abnormal to you, but there is a point of interest -- there is a huge, pulsating cube that lies inland, covering most of the island. There's about a mile stretch of land surrounding the cube's sides that is forested and sandy, but that's it. There is the ocean, though the tide is very choppy. Characters may be able to swim across...or can they? A ▢ Want to take a dip in the ocean? If you're so inclined, be careful -- the currents are strong and can quickly suck your character under if you aren't careful enough. There ARE boats on the shore, and you can also utilize these as a means of escape. Your character will just have to hope there's someone around to help them if they land in trouble! B ▢ Some other characters may be checking out the island, so there's a chance your characters aren't alone on this mysterious island! If you ask them where you are, your character can take a magical journey to their real destination. Hope they aren't afraid of water travel.

The more fortunate potential coven members -- or those who made it from the island to Aimintas -- are located in the marketplace. There they'll be introduced to the Palai, their strange cultures and attitudes, as well as renewed excitement at the new members. There's getting to be so many coven members that they won't immediately recognize new additions from the old guard, but they're hospitable creatures anyway. C ▢ The Palai have recently become interested in weaponry, especially weapons powered by Elto energy magic. There are still Palai youth who haven't learned their lesson from the coven celebration, running around and shooting characters with magical slingshots in an effort to be mischevious. The newer development, though, is that the older Palai are also trying to get in on practicing using weaponry. Because they aren't totally sure who are new coven members and who has been here for a while, a Palai might challenge you to a duel. Will you take this as a threat, or the friendly scrimmage that it's intended to be? D ▢ The Eltos are being utilized more and more for technological advancements, and while the Palai have failed at flying machines, they are trying to work on other, newer forms of transportation. They're still in the early stages of development, and they're looking to create transportation modes outside of the objects young Elto magic in an effort to have fun and play. However, this requires some experimentation. Characters may find that certain items they touch immediately become motile, from pens that lunge forward and propel their holder through the air, to rugs that become magic carpets once they're stepped on. To everyone else: watch out! E ▢ Despite the recent death of some Palai, the Palai "mating season" is beginning soon -- while their mating season syncs up with their past life as wild creatures, this is more so like a two week long Valentine's Day for their species. Palai are very much invested in family and relationships, and they haven't let go of pushing this belief onto coven members. While their ideal family unit is three beings, they're willing to take baby steps. Your character has suddenly been grabbed and sat next to another character and the questions begin. The Palai matchmaker begins with this one: "What do you look for in an ideal partner?"

The land of Aimintas recently experienced some salty rainfall -- actually that's still going on for some reason. When will it stop? Nobody knows. Because their resources may be limited while new harvesting methods are implemented, the Palai have to limit their use of vegetables, fruits and grains as the ones currently planted may be too damaged by salt water to be used. This has caused some changes to the Aimintas marketplace, reflecting the food rationing. F ▢ The smart Palai have actually been saving up some of those dead fish that were falling out of the sky. Don't worry, they've been properly iced. The food being sold around the marketplace will focus on this fish, though they do need some characters to help prep the fish, including removing the scales and deboning the fish. Is your character good with a knife? G ▢ Alternatively, Palai chefs have been experimenting with a complete line of fish delicacies. From fish sandwiches to fish brownies, your character will likely be asked to try a nasty ass fish something or other. Unless they're into that kind of thing, it's going to be hard to swallow -- but the Palai hope your character likes their new foods! H ▢ Wildcard prompt. Go nuts and utilize your own creativity within the setting. This can mean striking out on your own or utilizing a certain location in a different way. The world is your oyster!

[ all yukari wanted to do was sit down for a while. why do these things always seem to happen?? one moment she was stepping into a room to take a break and the next second she was shoved into a chair to talk to someone she'd likely never met before.

yukari's not so uptight that she's unwilling to play along — at least, that's her thought until she actually hears the question posed to them. ]

Excuse me!? What the heck kind of question is that!

[ her face is warm from embarrassment. that's just not something you ask someone!!! especially not in front of a stranger!! sorry, person sitting next to/across from her, but she's not down for this. ]

[ okay, sushi and all that is really great, but yukari has some high-class taste when it comes to fish. it's not like she can swallow down just anything, and fish like this is usually an expensive indulgence, something she can't often afford. having something offered to her for free is pretty sweet, so she'll take a piece, excited to try it — but then ... she gets a whiff. the smell gives her pause, but not wanting to be rude... ]

Here! [ yukari will turn to the person beside her, grinning brightly. ] Try this! I had a big lunch and I'm not too hungry.

[actus]

[ there is absolutely no way he's trying that. sorry. he can smell it from here. his brows lift, mostly hidden by his messy bangs, and he just stands there. for a long moment. ]

Ah... [ there is no way -- ] I'm allergic to chocolate.

[ it's deadpan. naturally. ]

[snipers]

[ thankfully, she's used to deadpan protags. ]

I don't think there's any chocolate in there.

[actus]

[ damn, she's good. ]

Still, they gave it to you. It's Palai tradition to eat anything you're given.

[ that's... maybe true? he isn't sure, but it sounds convincing. don't make him be a gentleman and suffer the fish brownie, yukari. please don't. ]

[snipers]

[ she squints for a second, then— ]

And now I'm giving it to you. ...So, you don't wanna be rude, do you?

[actus]

[ YOU WERE RUDE FIRST, YUKARI... he kind of squints back, but then shrugs and takes the piece from her. ]

Tell them I want a headstone made of marble.

[ and down the hatch it goes.

it's horrible. truly horrible. he's trying not to pull a face. "trying." it's not working. ]

[snipers]

[ yukari "a rude bitch" takeba. ]

Marble, huh... You've got expensive taste.

[ she leans forward just a little, just to inspect his face. it's almost like he has an expression!! (kidding, she knows some people are more subtle than others.) ]

... Is it really that bad?

[Haru didn't know what she was getting into with the Palai today, not until she was sat down with another young lady. Something about match making? What did they even mean by that?!

And then Haru hears the question.]

Oh, oh no. I can't answer that question.

[Nothing against Yukari, it's just...they've never met!]

[snipers]

[ yukari really doesn't want to insult the cute little lizard creatures, but ... ]

Look, can't we just... talk to each other for a while before you start with this?

[ she looks at the palai with slightly pleading eyes, though annoyance still edges her words and makes them sharp. ]

Matchmaking shouldn't be based on who you think might look good together. Matchmaking should be based on how the two parties feel about each other.

[Look, she's dealt with "matchmaking" at home. Not at her best interest but, ugh. She is not about to let the Palai push her around.

She turns to Yukari next.]

They really do mean the best, though.

[It's almost like Haru has been dealing with them for a while now (she has been).]

[snipers]

[ the palai looks between them, appearing dejected for a moment before noticing that their conversation is slowly unfolding. they take that as a good sign and scurries off to force other people into the fun. ]

I'm sure they do, but this is still... uncalled for.

[mapsio]

[At least we're alone now, right?]

I can agree with that. The Palai are strange though, they find it strange that some of us... well, most of us really, don't have partners.

[Her shoulders slump.] I'm sorry you have to deal with something so silly right away.

[snipers]

Maybe some of us like being alone... [ yukari doesn't, but. details. ] ...Well, it's not right away, so it's not too bad.

[ she glances at haru fully now, an eyebrow lifting. ]

You sound like you know a lot about them.

[nockpoint]

[ he ducks into this room, just to look around, and the next thing he knows he's being pushed by the back of his knees into a seat, just as a girl in bright pink is shuffled into the seat across from him.... its some sort of.. speed dating thing... huh.

stifling a yawn as the little lizard chats at them, he watches in bemusement while the girl prickles at the question... and then the lizard repeats it to him. hm. ]

Aren't we missing the third one? I thought palai did things in threes.

[snipers]

[ oh my god, that's even worse, and yukari can't help herself. she sputters, and slaps her hands down on the table top. ]

Don't encourage them!

[nockpoint]

[ the look he gives her is just. god. this is the most fun he's had in weeks. in eternity. he just can't help it. ]

I didn't bring a present, either. [ he shrugs, then leans one arm on the table to prop his chin in his hand, a smug red man with no red, because his damn sleeves are still missing. ] I think we were doomed from the start, don't you?

[snipers]

I'm leaving.

[ she doesn't have to put up with this!! she's getting to her feet and is about to leave the table when another palai rushes over and shoves her right back into her chair. ]

Oh come on!

[nockpoint]

[ archer glances to the side at their original lizard interrogator, and then then over yukari's shoulder to the exit... they're not too far away, but he'd rather not wade through a crowd of palai, just to get out of a speed dating disaster. and it's interesting, after all. ]

It looks like your options are either, answer the question and get shuffled off to another table, hopefully closer to the door, or don't answer the question, and see if your host gets bored. Your pick.

[snipers]

[ guess what she's going with.

if you guessed "don't answer," you'd be right.

yukari is crossing her arms and looking away, her jaw set stubbornly. ]

Huh?

[ The black armored woman turns with a sour expression, eyes glaring at the little pink girl shoving a fish in her face. Without hesitation she grabs it carelessly, black flames engulfing her closed hand, reducing the fish to ashes in a matter of seconds. Hell flames are that hot, yep. ]

The fuck you're trying to do? I've roasted people for less, little girl.

i'm sorry this is so late!!

[snipers]

[ ... well that.

sure was a thing.

where was junpei when you needed him? at least he was fireproof. but yukari's never backed down from — well, call jalter even be called a bully? maybe not, but yukari always responds in kind whenever she's challenged. ]

... Trying to share food, you don't have to react like that.

[ then again, it WAS a fish brownie............ you're not exactly in the clear here, yukari. ]

[ A thin layer of flames coats her armor for a second. Black, scorching hot flames. Then they are gone and Jalter grunts loudly.

Like, whatever. ]

Offer better food next time, girl.

Or do you think you can dump your trash on me? Should I be offended over here?

[ She sounds like she's enjoying herself too much to be offended, but maybe Yukari shouldn't point that out. ]

[Honestly, Lenka was just out looking for clothes or supplies that would better withstand the downpour of salt water that keeps happening (and getting some shelter from the rain), and then suddenly he's settled next to who-knows-who (from the coven??) and getting interrogated.

So he answers, rapidfire and rote, and probably gets mostly drowned out by Yukari, which may be a good thing. Despite his absolutely even tone -- this is his panic reaction here. Oops.]

that sounds exactly like her, and that description makes her stall, and yukari looks quickly over at lenka. ]

[Lenka freezes for a moment, not having expected his seatmate to react since the Palai had been the one asking, but she is sitting right there. After a blink or two and trying to silently replay whatever came galloping out of his mouth--]

Long-range defense, talks a lot, runs well...

[He ducks his head a little as he says it, it's a bit embarrassing because he realizes now that he still doesn't at all understand what's happening. This is what he gets for leaping before looking.]
