First off, I'm a mage, so I actually know how to clock magic. Secondly, and this is the part that's important to you: you're a part of a large group of people, myself included, who have gotten picked up to be a part of a larger group of magic users. I don't know if the term coven exists in your world, but you're now a part of it.
