You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.
B ▢ Other new arrivals aren't so lucky as to arrive in the warm embrace of an apartment's bed. It's currently raining in Shehui, and because of the current post-winter temperature, the rain is certainly cold. You're now in the middle of a busy street, out in the open -- no umbrella to your name. You have the opportunity to grab some shelter underneath an awning or run into a building. Or will someone take pity on you? Or are you not bothered by a sudden, frigid downpour? C ▢ Shehui is looking to celebrate an upcoming holiday -- Yeunai. Something of a bonding holiday that celebrates a variety of relationships, Shehui residents are really into this consumer, capitalist bonanza. On certain Shehui streets are mats that read the ID data of those that stand on them. Whether or not you'd like to take part in this little shindig, a nearby machine will random spit out some data about you and another person on the same long mat. (Need some guidance? Here's a love calculator!) That's a good ice-breaker, right? D ▢ Despite Shehui's distrust of magic, faux magic isn't a big deal. In fact, there's currently a showcase of street performers making money with their craft. Located around Shehui's famed tower, there's a lot of room for some real magic here. Want to take yours for a spin? It's easy enough to simply say you can't reveal your secrets when you're asked about a certain talent. E ▢ With how prominent cell phones are in Shehui, a lot of new and old arrivals have them by now -- you, newbie, might have already picked one up! Despite not having anyone on your contact list yet, you do seem to be getting quite a few messages...though they aren't going to your cell phone. Instead, they're being telepathically broadcast into your head, or even before your eyes! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it's very likely that you're transmitting your own accidental telepathic broadcast...but what are you saying, exactly? F ▢ Another fun activity -- Chips! is always open! Today they're hosting their regular games, but there's also a SongWars competition, including a huge stage and everything. While you may not know the words to these strange, alien pop songs, the crowd may turn in your favour if you put on a good show regardless. What do you win for besting your champion? A nice plastic trophy and a big Chocorrone. G ▢ For some people, the whole "kidnapped to another world with new magic and cell phones and shit" is actually...kind of a downer. For those of you who want to enjoy the evening and maybe meditate for a while, there are plenty of parks with benches that allow you to sit and think. You may not want company, but it may find you regardless... H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character react to this strange world? |
Olivier Armstrong | Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
She’d blinked, for just a moment the sun had gotten caught in her eye as she left that Ishvalan with his orders to work alongside Miles. Now though she was staring up at clouds as the rain began to fall, it was cold but it was nowhere the cold of Briggs. If it had then it might have been of concern. For the moment though Olivier simply inspected her surroundings, not moving from the middle of the street where she had. Instead, she reached for her sword, thinking perhaps this was some final trick by that bastard who’d been the cause of all the problems they’d had to deal with. To her annoyance though, Olivier found the weapon gone from her side, the family heirloom that she was never without missing. Looking towards the closest person amidst the downpour the glare she gave enough to make a grown man cower,
“What is the meaning of this?!? Why am I here?”
F: Observing the foolish
It was clear that she was going to be whatever this land was for some time, and apparently, there was some kind of festival or celebration going on. However, Olivier was not one to get so caught up in the sentimental or romantic garbage as others. It was pathetic and made her sick. Instead, she’d decided to get something to eat but had apparently stumbled into a whole different foolishness and now they’re attempting to drag her on stage. After a few glares and possibly threatening to put one of them through the monitor, they’d backed off. So now she was just sitting at a table off to the side looking rather unimpressed, insisting she has no interest when they still come by to ask.
G: Park Bench
Was everyone here some kind of lovestruck idiot or an ignorant fool? Olivier had yet to see one person that seemed to have any strength behind them, only people too lost in pointless matters that were easily manipulated and lacked a spine. Taking a moment she took a seat on one of the benches in a nearby park, taking advantage of the moment to straighten her thoughts. It was clear that this was not Amestris, nor were the people here even slightly aware of the events that had occurred. She could conclude it wasn’t Drachma either, meaning she had been taken to someplace different. She wasn’t an alchemist, so it couldn’t have been that Gate that the Elric’s had told her about, so what purpose was there to bring her to this world?
Shehui, that was the name she’d heard mentioned. That much she knew, soon she’d need to find work as well a residence. In addition, she would need to practice with this technology and these messages that were finding their way into her head, she was entirely certain they belonged to those around her given that now that she was away from the crowd it was much quieter.
H: Wildcard
[Open invitation, throw whatever you have at me.]
arrival.
as roy has his registered carer (tm) with him, he does have an umbrella -- and suddenly, olivier is out of the rain as roy appears to shelter her from the sudden storm, with a somewhat hurried salute as he's juggling the umbrella with his other hand. ]
Major General.
[ his tone is surprised, but also somewhat relieved. if anyone were to show up in shehui that could assist in the situation, it would be the northern wall herself.
he pauses for only half a moment before he asks: ]
Are you alright?
no subject
Mustang. Of course, I would find you where there's no sense to be had of a situation.
I am perfectly fine.
[Despite their Uniform being suited for it, Olivier was still quite thoroughly soaked through from the rain. And most others would likely have been shivering from the cold by now, but those who served in Briggs wouldn't this weather even mildly harsh.]
I was questioning this man as to why I'm here, and where the closest military command center was so I could contact Central. But now that you're here, you can fill me in on what is going on.
no subject
it is, honestly, a relief to see her. but saying so would be falling on deaf ears, and besides -- major general armstrong has no time for softness or pleasantries. she asked him a question. ]
I can tell you what the situation is in Shehui, Major General, but it's a long story.
[ he pauses. ]
The civilians here don't take kindly to those not born here. We're safer discussing Amestris in a quieter place, but I can tell you that there is no way to contact Central. We're not home. Nowhere near it.
no subject
No way to contact Central, and a long way from home, both in the blink of an eye.
[Perhaps there would have been a time that she would have questioned it but after the events in the tunnel and the things she had seen with the homunculi and the man called Father she could believe it. Besides Roy would know better than most that it was a deadly mistake to lie to her.]
It seems then that we will have plenty of time for you to tell me all about it. Though don't expect me to simply allow you to choose what parts you want to reveal. I'm going to need a weapon as well, since my sword has been taken.
G
If you wouldn't mind holding that expression for just a few moments longer, madam...
no subject
Just what the hell do you think you're doing?
[She didn't get up from where she had been sitting, rather she simply crosses her arms and stares directly at him.]
no subject
[ Rather than insist she goes back to her previous pose, he seems content to start a quick sketch of this face, too. ]
no subject
[Just what she needed, some fanciful artist. But it wasn't as if she hadn't sat for a portrait painting before at the behest of her father, though it had been quite some years since she'd been bothered to do so. Olivier had no use for such things, it was vanity and a mear waste of space and time. There would surely be no room for such a waste of space among the barren halls of her dwelling.]
no subject
As for what I mean to do with it... [ He shrugs. ] Keep it, I suppose? I've never given a thought to selling my work. It's not as if I need the money.
[ Back home, he doesn't, anyway. It's just now occurring to him that that isn't really the case here, and he looks a little troubled suddenly by the thought. ]
no subject
[She is among those that are unimpressed, though for Olivier that is true for any form of art; with the sole exception of combat.]
It's strange though that you would keep pictures you've drawn of other people without at least knowing who they are.
