You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.
B ▢ Other new arrivals aren't so lucky as to arrive in the warm embrace of an apartment's bed. It's currently raining in Shehui, and because of the current post-winter temperature, the rain is certainly cold. You're now in the middle of a busy street, out in the open -- no umbrella to your name. You have the opportunity to grab some shelter underneath an awning or run into a building. Or will someone take pity on you? Or are you not bothered by a sudden, frigid downpour? C ▢ Shehui is looking to celebrate an upcoming holiday -- Yeunai. Something of a bonding holiday that celebrates a variety of relationships, Shehui residents are really into this consumer, capitalist bonanza. On certain Shehui streets are mats that read the ID data of those that stand on them. Whether or not you'd like to take part in this little shindig, a nearby machine will random spit out some data about you and another person on the same long mat. (Need some guidance? Here's a love calculator!) That's a good ice-breaker, right? D ▢ Despite Shehui's distrust of magic, faux magic isn't a big deal. In fact, there's currently a showcase of street performers making money with their craft. Located around Shehui's famed tower, there's a lot of room for some real magic here. Want to take yours for a spin? It's easy enough to simply say you can't reveal your secrets when you're asked about a certain talent. E ▢ With how prominent cell phones are in Shehui, a lot of new and old arrivals have them by now -- you, newbie, might have already picked one up! Despite not having anyone on your contact list yet, you do seem to be getting quite a few messages...though they aren't going to your cell phone. Instead, they're being telepathically broadcast into your head, or even before your eyes! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it's very likely that you're transmitting your own accidental telepathic broadcast...but what are you saying, exactly? F ▢ Another fun activity -- Chips! is always open! Today they're hosting their regular games, but there's also a SongWars competition, including a huge stage and everything. While you may not know the words to these strange, alien pop songs, the crowd may turn in your favour if you put on a good show regardless. What do you win for besting your champion? A nice plastic trophy and a big Chocorrone. G ▢ For some people, the whole "kidnapped to another world with new magic and cell phones and shit" is actually...kind of a downer. For those of you who want to enjoy the evening and maybe meditate for a while, there are plenty of parks with benches that allow you to sit and think. You may not want company, but it may find you regardless... H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character react to this strange world? |

Narsus | The Heroic Legend of Arslan
[ Waking up next to a stranger is not the oddest thing Narsus has ever done, but it is rather concerning. He's pretty sure he wasn't that drunk last night; the prince needs him to keep his wits for the time being, even when they've cause for celebration.
As confusing as that is, it's not as confusing as the rest of their surroundings. Even the material of the bedding isn't quite like what he's used to, and as he takes notice of that, more and more oddities catch his eye. He blinks up at the strange light fixture on the ceiling, the odd device with numbers on it on the nightstand. His eyes follow the clock's second hand, watching it arc its way step by step across the face, before finally reaching out to prod the device gently with a fingertip. It's made of some kind of material he's never felt before.
He turns back to his bedmate, checking to see if they've woken yet, and pokes them if they haven't. ] Where are we?
[ The 'who are you' part is also important, but priority is on the strangest thing first. ]
C.
[ When in Rome, and all that.
Not that Narsus would know where Rome was if you asked him.Having gotten his bearings as well as he's likely to in the immediate future, Narsus is wandering the streets, seeing the sights and taking in the local culture. He's way out of his depth technologically, but these mats seem harmless enough. He steps forward onto one carefully, and waits for it to take a reading. ]You are 45% compatible. You have some potential, but it's not time to start planning the bridal shower yet.
[ A cheerful smile is directed toward whoever he's standing next to. ] I wonder if I could bring one of these home? I know someone there I wouldn't mind hearing that message.
G.
[ Having done some looking around, Narsus has now found somewhere quieter to be while he regroups and considers his predicament. He's not just sitting and meditating, though: somewhere in the shopping districts, he's managed to acquire some cheap art supplies, and now he's staring rather intensely at a nearby statue, pencil darting back and forth across the paper as he sketches it.
He probably won't notice if you look over his shoulder, but you may not want to: it's hard to even recognize the statue from a glance at the strange mess on the sketchpad. ]
H.
[ Have another idea? He's probably poking his nose into all kinds of things throughout the day, all despite being totally unfamiliar with any technology more advanced than a ballista. ]
A
This is my room.

I see. Have we met, by some chance? I don't recall your face, but I'm not the kind of person much accustomed to waking in strangers' beds, either. I'm afraid you have me at a bit of a loss, Miss...?

[ She'll be asking the questions here. It's her bed after all. He'll get her name when she feels he's trustworthy enough. She is familiar with this kind of thing happening, just not usually in such an awkward location such as this. ]
