You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over. There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.
B ▢ Other new arrivals aren't so lucky as to arrive in the warm embrace of an apartment's bed. It's currently raining in Shehui, and because of the current post-winter temperature, the rain is certainly cold. You're now in the middle of a busy street, out in the open -- no umbrella to your name. You have the opportunity to grab some shelter underneath an awning or run into a building. Or will someone take pity on you? Or are you not bothered by a sudden, frigid downpour? C ▢ Shehui is looking to celebrate an upcoming holiday -- Yeunai. Something of a bonding holiday that celebrates a variety of relationships, Shehui residents are really into this consumer, capitalist bonanza. On certain Shehui streets are mats that read the ID data of those that stand on them. Whether or not you'd like to take part in this little shindig, a nearby machine will random spit out some data about you and another person on the same long mat. (Need some guidance? Here's a love calculator!) That's a good ice-breaker, right? D ▢ Despite Shehui's distrust of magic, faux magic isn't a big deal. In fact, there's currently a showcase of street performers making money with their craft. Located around Shehui's famed tower, there's a lot of room for some real magic here. Want to take yours for a spin? It's easy enough to simply say you can't reveal your secrets when you're asked about a certain talent. E ▢ With how prominent cell phones are in Shehui, a lot of new and old arrivals have them by now -- you, newbie, might have already picked one up! Despite not having anyone on your contact list yet, you do seem to be getting quite a few messages...though they aren't going to your cell phone. Instead, they're being telepathically broadcast into your head, or even before your eyes! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it's very likely that you're transmitting your own accidental telepathic broadcast...but what are you saying, exactly? F ▢ Another fun activity -- Chips! is always open! Today they're hosting their regular games, but there's also a SongWars competition, including a huge stage and everything. While you may not know the words to these strange, alien pop songs, the crowd may turn in your favour if you put on a good show regardless. What do you win for besting your champion? A nice plastic trophy and a big Chocorrone. G ▢ For some people, the whole "kidnapped to another world with new magic and cell phones and shit" is actually...kind of a downer. For those of you who want to enjoy the evening and maybe meditate for a while, there are plenty of parks with benches that allow you to sit and think. You may not want company, but it may find you regardless... H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character react to this strange world? |
c
And yet here she is, pulled up next to someone else (and still complaining about it loudly) when the number dings up:
96%! ]
Eeeh?! Wait--how is--
[ Surprised at first by the number it takes a second for something else to register to Yoshiko: ]
Mari!?

And of course, her reaction was going to be priceless.
So she waits-- ]
Yo~shi~ko-chan! It looks like the two of us are a match made in heaven.
[ And naturally, Yoshiko doesn't disappoint in the way of reactions. Bless her soul. ]
Or would you prefer hell?

YO-HA-NE!!
[ Even before Mari can finish she's already correcting her friend, reiterating how improper it is to call her by her Earthly vessel's name and not her True Fall Angel's Name!! Yoshiko is just such a boring name!! ]
Th-There's no way in either place that something like that is true! [ She drops character for a moment, only to try to recoup, bringing her hand to her face in a stupid looking "giran" pose. ]
Though it's only natural for my angelic beauty to sway the hearts of god's children, no matter the gender.

[ Mari feigns offense, looking hurt as she leans in slightly. ]
Are you going to fight the whims of fate?
[ Her voice grows increasingly shrill, and she leans forward once again so that she's towering over Yoshiko. And then suddenly, like she's just remembered something, she breaks character-- ]
What am I going to tell my parents?
[ Parents? Who? What? Is she talking about marriage? About Yoshiko not wanting to get married despite their apparent fate? It's a mystery, even to Mari. But she certainly hopes her dear friend has something to say about it (because if she didn't what would be the point in all of this, y'know?? ) ]

[ Mari, that's a low blow, using her own
gaynesschuunibyou against her, bringing up Fate. How could she overlook this now?! And just like that Mari manages to out play her without barely even needing to try.Because recollecting herself as best she can (she's so clearly forcing it out) Yoshiko is Yohane again, flipping her cape around her shoulders in a display of embarrassing middle-school syndrome. ]
W-Well, if that's how the Wheel of Fate has decided to turn, then even the great Fallen Angel Yohane is forced to bend to it's whim--
[ Oh and now Mari is yelling about her parents and Yoshiko is pretty certain she's going to die from all of this. ]
Wait a minute!! I-I mean, I'm sure they'll understand if we talk to them together--
