Soooo what happens if, say, a dumb teenager with magic flight powers tries to fly up to the water level and enter it for swimming.

The ocean is his home.

It'll essentially be just like the ocean -- fish, swimming, currents, etc. It's still a pretty hard ocean to swim in, though, because of the buoyancy issues and faster currents that are spread throughout.

This also means Dirk will be at risk of becoming fish food -- there are predators in the ocean, and the Uvi do hunt in the water at night.

Is it possible to talk to the Uvi? Or. possibly rip out a soul or kill one.

Killing one is definitely possible if you have the power to do so. The Uvi are extremely vicious and will try to fight back. Unless a character has pretty elevated powers or magic, it's likely they won't come out of the interaction completely unscathed. You could theoretically rip out a soul, but that's something more open to interpretation and canon powers.

Their language is very primitive and based more on physical cues and instinct than verbiage. They have a limited speaking vocabulary that mostly consists of one or two word phrases. "Go," "mine," "move," etc. Nothing too intellectual or complex if you're looking for conversation. This language is reserved solely for their time on the land, though, since they don't have the ability to talk underwater -- thus the need for a more visually represented language instead of a aural one.

They definitely would! If characters receive information about these creatures, they can of course inform others about them from there.

The Palai are obsessed with essentially any and all types of media based on what they've been given, and that's a very wide range of genres. Essentially, whatever you can think up the Palai probably know of and/or are intrigued by. They have a certain affinity for drama and romance genres, however.

The document mentioned the failed devices that the Palai used to try to get themselves up to the ocean layer. Are those devices still around? And is there any other way to get up to the ocean?

They are! They're essentially very primitive elevator systems that are pretty small, though the magic of the Eltos is supposed to power the platforms up to the water. Many of them are various forms of a large, flat board with holes in the corners for bags and containers to be strung through, then powered by an Elto. It's all very non-functional and magic-focused. Most of their examples of travel are focused on going from Point A to Point B on the ground, not up in the air.

Hi guys! I may have missed this in the document itself while reading but where are members of the coven staying after the first night while they're on the planet? Are there hotels/apartments for rent/are they sleeping in caves forever/etc?

Also maybe I am counting the days wrong but would the log actually count for days 13 + 14 and not 14+15 since oocly the 17th was Day 10 (so 18th = 11, 19=12, 20=13?) If I'm miscounting that's totally my bad but just curious. Thanks in advance!

The OOC post tomorrow will go into detail about this information tomorrow since the info ties into the TDM. There are suites and other homes around the area that characters can stay in, though, so if you want to thread out something happening on the night of the 14th you can go ahead and do that (it'll 100% be better than where the coven is staying).

Also you're totally right! Hopefully with the new calendar post coming up this will stop happening since numbers are evil.

chacha slides back here HELLO MODS I have one more brief question. For the purpose of threading stuff what is the housing situation like in the unused Palai house the coven is allowed to stay in? (i.e. are there multiple rooms and people have to stay in threes, are there individual spaces, is it one story, etc.)

HELLO! There are definitely multiple rooms. The houses are unfurnished and there's no limit to how many people can stay in a room other than the max capacity -- there's room for about 10 twin mattresses in each room, just as an example of the size of each of them. For these "bedroom" spaces, there are three of them in each house. There are two bathrooms and a kitchen, as well as a large living area that can also house people.

They're also two stories. The only smaller, more individual room is on top of the house and serves more as a lookout type room than anything else. There's a set of stairs that leads up to a door in the ceiling which opens up to a square, roofed room that is essentially a gazebo placed on top of a house. The size is also similar as well.

This is along the lines of sillier questions, but would any solar-charging tech be findable in the market(s)? These are more a 2011 invention though, which is why I wanted to check in (versus, say, charge boosters, which have been around for much longer).

Second question is if in flying around over the city, would... a big... flashy dragon face anything notable and/or notice anything in the process, including by sort of flashing his scales up at the water-sky hanging overhead. Can you bait fish. Clearly the question of the hour.

It's unlikely that you could find something like that there, though something related but more primitive might be located. The Palai don't really try too hard to find outside energy sources when Eltos do most of that for them.

Nothing of note to really find, but he would definitely attract the attention of fish. Little fish will be attracted to the light, and bigger fish would be interested in the dragon. Uvi might also notice and taunt the dragon in question, whomever this dragon might be, especially if said dragon was flying at night!

Another silly question - what's the booze situation on Aimintas? Do the Palai drink alcohol at all? Is there any social stigma against giving it to kids?

They do make certain alcoholic beverages out of fermented fruit and it's an adult beverage in the world of the Palai. However, the Palai don't have a very strong concept of human age so giving it to a human (coven member) minor wouldn't be something they'd think to much about.

I might have missed this on the doc, but what are the primary modes of transportation in Aimintas? Do they have trains? Buses? Hoverboards?

Sorry for the slow reply! Palai travel by walking almost exclusively, though children have taken to powering objects with Elto energy and motoring about on them like hoverboards. This is seen as something juvenile, though, and the Palai express their advanced knowledge and civilized nature through their bipedal functionality.
