TDMs can be used for anyone interested in the game and/or testing out a new muse.

Test Drive samples are encouraged to be used for your application sample, though they are NOT a requirement.

Feel free to use one prompt, multiple prompts or make up your own!

These threads can be considered game canon upon game opening if you so choose.

Telepathy and magic can be used at any point in time on the TDM, from Prompt A to your wildcard prompt. A specific prompt exists, however, that makes sure all characters have an equal chance to use this mechanic within the TDM. You're encouraged to have characters use telepathy and their magic accidentally or even purposefully on any TDM prompt.

If you aren't set on your character's power yet or want to try out a few, you're still able to use the test drive. Maybe your character is a late bloomer and hasn't fully unlocked their intuitive drive yet. In the case of multiple powers, only prompts that contain the power you choose for your application will count as potential game canon threads.

While only one character can be apped or reserved during a cycle, feel free to post with more than one character if you like! This is for those who are uncertain of their first choice or who would like to try out different characters within the setting.

IMPORTANT: This world is low-frequency. No canon powers or abilities are allowed! Also check out the setting information for more info about Shehui.

You blink and that's all it takes. At first, the picture doesn't come in clear, like you're waiting for a screen to fully load -- more aptly, it's like you're waiting for a camera to focus so you can find image clarity. Before you happened to rapidly close your eyes and open them, your life was normal...well, normal for you, anyway. Fighting an alien, making a quesadilla, dying. And then that blurry picture suddenly takes over.

There's a lot to take in here -- you feel weird, your surroundings are weird. Everything is just weird. For starters, there's that new piece of jewelry inserted in the space above your chest. That certainly wasn't there before you opened your eyes.

[ The moment she leans forward, Laphicet gasps loudly but before he can yank her skirt and pull her back, she turns to him. Only then she realizes that he's been holding his breath after that wheeze. ]

It is. Much, much better. [ He can finally let out a relieved sigh. ] The view is beautiful, but not that much to risk your life for it...

[ Laphicet hasn't realized just yet that he's still holding onto her skirt. ]

[Lapis can't stop the soft giggle escaping her when he gasps, but she still moves herself back onto the ground - deciding that she's shocked him enough. Smiling down at him softly, realising now that he really was that worried.

And that he's still holding onto her skirt.]

I can assure you that I won't fall now. [She'll wait for him to understand what she means - her voice taking a faint, playful hint to it.]

[ It doesn't take long from now, at least. Laphicet's gaze shifts from her face to his own hands still gripping the fabric. When he finally lets go of it, he also takes a few steps back, surprised by the discovery. His blush gains a darker hue, too. ]

It's just...you had me worried there for a second.

[ Maybe it's still not too late for explanations. ]

Don't do this ever again. [ Now he's huffing as he scolds Lapis, it seems. ] Okay?

[His surprise and his darkening blush pulls another giggle from her, shifting to lean against the rail now. Her expression becoming neutral once more, though she watches him curiously - giving another owlish blink at how he's scolding her.

It's... odd. She can't really try to poke fun or tease, since he seems so genuine - so she can only give an uncertain nod, humming quietly once more.]

Well okay, I won't do it while I don't have my powers. [Because being able to teleport erases the worry of falling, after all. And also having ghost friends to catch you too.]

But I'm surprised, I didn't think you would be so worried.

[ In retrospect, he might have gone overboard but he's pleased with the final effect—Lapis listened to him. Smiling a bit sheepishly, Laphicet fixes his gaze on his feet. ]

It's a really tall building, that's why... [ Mumble, mumble. ] What kind of powers do you have, miss?

[At least Laphichet has succeeded in what most couldn't - which is getting her to listen to him. If it was anyone else, Lapis would've seen how far she could push them.

But it's hard to be so mean when he's so genuine. It's why his mumbles only get a soft giggle at most, before she thinks of how to answer that.]

Well, one of them is that I can teleport. [And, after debating for a moment, she describes her other power just as bluntly.]

I can also see and talk to spirits, so if I fall from anything, they usually catch me. But I can't see or hear them at all here.

You can teleport?! [ There's another gasping sound, but it's different from the previous one—it's clear that he's excited. ] That's really convenient!

[ The other power, though...Laphicet taps his chin a few times, quite puzzled. ]

But you can see and hear me...

[ Because low-key telling someone that you're a spiritual being is the way to go. ]

[That excitement prompts Lapis' expression to brighten, a smile appearing on her face for just a moment as she nods.]

Mmhm, it is! I can only teleport a certain distance, but it's still super useful.

[And that wasn't the reaction she was expecting to her other power. Gold eyes blinking at him, a soft 'hmm' escaping her lips - while her expression doesn't really show her excitement, she does seem to be sparkling slightly.]

So you're a spirit? That's amazing, I've never seen a spirit like you before. [But if he is one, how can she see him? That is a good question.]

But I can't sense you're a spirit either... Do you have any powers?

[ That's a very good question—there was no need for him to use his powers so far, but now that she mentions it, Laphicet does feel sort of weird. All this time he thought that it might be simply fatigue, but... ]

Let's see... [ Casting a simple spell shouldn't be a problem, even if he's not in his top form, but when he concentrates and murmurs the name of the spell, nothing happens. ] This is bad. What do we do now? I need my magic back as soon as possible...

[ How is he supposed to protect anyone without his artes? ]

[She watches him expectantly, already having a hunch of how this might go - and that hunch is proven correct when he isn't able to cast anything. Though part of her is disappointed too, she really wanted to see what he could do!]

Hmm... [And there's the next good question. Well, there seems to be only one option for now -]

We'll have to go find others and ask them about what's going on. Surely someone must have an idea.

[Maybe this all has something to do with that... thing in her chest too, a hand unconsciously reaching to where it lays under her dress.]

If this is some kind of a prank, I swear...

[ One of his friends might've done such a thing, probably. But Laphicet forgets about this the moment he notices Lapis' hand reaching to her chest. ]

Are you hurt?

[ That would be the worst—he can't even use his healing artes right now. ]

If it is, I'll make sure to do even worse to them.

[Lapis is certainly petty and vengeful enough to do so, her expression still neutral even as she thinks of the best ways to get back at... whoever has done this.

But his concern snaps her out of her plots for revenge, shaking her head as she lets her hand drop to her side once more.]

No, I just found something... weird on me, when I found myself here. It's like a piece of jewellery put into my chest, so I was thinking that was related to the loss of power thing. [She sounds pretty calm about having something implanted in her - but inwardly she is fretting a bit.]

You sounded really scary...

[ That was the intention, he can tell, but maybe saying it out loud wasn't the best idea. Time will tell. ]

A piece of jewellery? [ At that moment, Laphicet's hand goes to his own chest before he even realizes it. There's something there under his fingers—something unfamiliar—and he can feel it. ] I think I might have it too. Maybe it really is connected to our power loss.

[ The way he said it makes it sound like some kind of disease, but his face lights up soon enough. ]

But we can look for someone who knows what is going on together, right?

[And Lapis actually nods in agreement with that.]

I've been called scary a lot before.

[She isn't really the type to keep quiet about her thoughts - both good and bad. But it's equally parts a relief and a worry to hear he has the same; glad she isn't alone in this, but he seems so young...

Her eyes take a moment to look over the skyline in front of them, mulling where to go first before blinking in surprise at how he wants to go together. But still, she doesn't hesitate to nod - finally stepping away from the rail and moving closer to him.]

Mmhm, of course. Best to look together than wander around alone.

[ Lapis is so honest about this that he doesn't even know what to say at first. If she's not scared of being called scary a lot, then she truly must be a scary person.

Or, at the very least, she's capable of doing scary things. Whichever it is...Laphicet doesn't seem to be too bothered—not for too long. ]

It's okay, I don't mind. [ He gives her a soft smile...because that's clearly what people do in such situation. ] I know a few scary people.

[ And speaking of people, Laphicet takes a look around. Why does this place seem so deserted. ]

Shouldn't a city this big be more...lively?

[And he surprises her again, his words ones she's not used to hearing - but then again, it sounds like he's used to scary people. Still, she gives him a soft smile in return, the expression brief but genuine - the fact he doesn't seem to mind her scariness meaning a lot to her.]

I'm glad to hear you don't mind. [Though the smile fades at his query, glancing around before nodding - somewhere like this should be swarming with people.]

It should be. Places like this usually have at least a few crowds. [She's quiet for a moment, before moving towards the door leading inside - pushing it open and peeking inside, her brows furrowing slightly once more.]

I can't hear anyone inside either. Maybe there will be more people further down.

I hope so...it would be really creepy if there was no one else besides us here.

[ Laphicet follows right away and tries in order to take a look inside too. ]

I think we should go and see how is it down there. Maybe we've arrived during dinner time or something like that?

[ It would mean that people in this city are very serious about sticking to their schedules...but he's not sure if that's really it and his doubts ring in his voice. ]

[Lapis keeps the door open so he can take a look - a soft, thoughtful hum escaping her as she peeks around. Moving to step inside, waiting for Laphicet to follow before they step further in - at least the inside is still light up, just eerily empty.]

Maybe, though I'm not sure if I would like to be in a city that serious about their schedules. [People like that could be even scarier than her...

For now though, it's time to go have a look around - the stairway down luckily open as well, so it's further down they go.]

Oh, and I'm Lapis. I just remembered I didn't introduce myself.

Neither would I...it's kind of boring that way. But even if that's true, maybe we won't have to stay here too long.

[ He already has to deal with imposed bedtimes, and that's more than enough. ]

Lapis? [ A bit surprised—her name is similar to his own, even if just a little—Laphicet tilts his head. ] I like it. Nice to meet you, Lapis. I'm Laphicet.

Mmhm, super boring. And I hope so, or we at least get our powers back.

[Since it feels really strange to be without them, and she doesn't approve. And hearing the similarity of their names prompts a blink, before she smiles softly once more.]

Nice to meet you too, Laphicet. You have a really nice name. [Though her smile fades as they get lower down, the silence still thick around them.]

I can't hear anyone down here either... I'm starting to think we're the only ones in here.

[ The comment about his name makes him grin from ear to ear—the name he's been given is very special to him, after all. ]

Thank you. [ He's right behind Lapis, making sure to keep up with her. ] No one...? Really? Does that mean...we're alone here?

[ It's exactly what it means. And he's blushing again. ]
