[ she's quiet for a moment, as if she can hardly believe the situation; that jake's 1) real 2) feasible 3) literally right here in front of her. letters don't do much for portraying personality, she realizes as his head comes to rest against her's. she smaller than him, enough that it's possibly nothing, but she wants to think it's comforting, like grandpa putting his chin atop her head while she tries to sound out her favorite picture book. (she's not sure if she made up this memory or not, these days.)

(it took her some time to figure out it was probably nothing, perhaps becquerel doing something to make her happy. she owes that dog so many irradiated steaks for taking care of her.)
